Drosophila
Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California
Founded in 2018 by Jorge Uribe, Drosophila is a small-lot project built on a simple conviction: the winemaker's role is to guide, not to impose. With an annual production of roughly 1,500 cases, each bottling reflects a deliberate relationship between site, grape, and restraint.
The name refers to the fruit fly drawn to fermentation, a fitting symbol for a project driven by curiosity rather than scale.
Drosophila operates without its own vineyard, sourcing fruit from specific sites across Valle de Guadalupe. This negociant approach allows Jorge to select parcels based on character and vintage expression, working with growers who share his commitment to minimal intervention.
Every label features original text by the poet Carlos Loya, a detail that reflects the creative culture behind the project.
